Tired of being the product?

There’s a better way to be social online — one where you own your data, choose your community, and no algorithm decides what you see next. I’ll show you how.

No algorithms. · No paid placement. · No one harvesting your data. · Just people, connecting freely.

What is the Fediverse?

Corporate social media locks you inside its walls and harvests your data. The Fediverse is different — it’s a collection of independent social networks that can all talk to each other, run by individuals, nonprofits, and cooperatives instead of corporations.

Think of it like email. You can have a Gmail address and still send a message to someone on Outlook. You can have a Friendica account and follow someone on Mastodon. No single company owns any of it. You pick where you want to be — and your connections come with you if you ever want to move.

The same spirit extends to messaging. Matrix and XMPP are open messaging protocols — not part of the Fediverse itself, but built on the same idea: no single company owns the network, and you can talk to anyone regardless of what server or app they use.

Interestingly, the concept isn’t new. The early internet worked this way — computer systems exchanging messages freely across networks, without anyone owning the pipes. The Fediverse is that idea, rebuilt for social media.

“I don’t really like being the product — and I don’t need someone telling me what I should see next.”

It’s not as simple as logging into Facebook and having people recommended to you. It takes a little more work. I really like the freedom of being able to do it myself — and I’m more than willing to help you do the same.

Security & privacy basics

Password management, two-factor authentication, encrypted messaging — without fear or confusion. You don’t need to understand everything to stay safer.

Self-hosting

I run my own Friendica and Matrix servers using YunoHost — and I can help you do the same. Build your own online spaces without corporate involvement.

Sustainability

Linux & sustainable computing

Many laptops that can’t run Windows 11 are still excellent machines. Linux keeps older hardware useful longer and reduces electronic waste.
